CHANGING LIVES: The Winam Care for Adolescent Story

In the heart of the Winam region, where the serenity of the lake meets the resilience of its people, two young women embarked on a journey of compassion and empowerment. Founded in 2019, Winam Care for Adolescent (WICAFA) emerged from the shared vision of Claris Tina and her friend Esperance Jean, who were deeply entrenched in the field of HIV care and treatment.

The name "Winam" itself carries profound significance, symbolizing not only the geographical expanse of the gulf or lake region but also the challenges it bears, particularly concerning the incidence and prevalence of HIV. Amidst these challenges, the founders witnessed firsthand the unique struggles faced by adolescents living with HIV, foremost among them being the pervasive stigma that shadowed their lives.

Driven by a fervent desire to create a stigma-free society and provide holistic support to adolescents living with HIV, Claris rallied minded individuals to form Winam Care for Adolescent, affectionately known as WICAFA. What started as a small initiative burgeoned into a community-based organization dedicated to fostering hope, dignity, and empowerment among adolescents in the Winam region. At WICAFA, our mission is clear: to stand as beacons of support, understanding, and advocacy for adolescents navigating the complexities of HIV. Through comprehensive programs encompassing healthcare, education, psychosocial support, and advocacy, we strive to break down barriers, challenge stigma, and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future. Driven by compassion, guided by resilience, and fueled by the unwavering belief in the potential of every adolescent, Winam Care for Adolescent continues to illuminate the path toward a world where every individual is embraced with dignity, regardless of their HIV status. Join us in our journey as we champion empowerment, foster resilience, and redefine possibilities for adolescents in the Winam region and beyond. Together, we can make a difference.
